Taking Charge of Your Health

Hey, thanks for tuning in. Today we’re going to discuss 10 herbs and
botanicals used in alternative medicine. Stick around until the end because I found
a cool quote! Most alternative forms of medicine recommend
a diet that will improve your health. It doesn’t matter whether it’s homeopathy,
naturopathy, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or other types of alternative
medicine. There is an emphasis placed on your diet. Very often, herbs and botanicals are recommended. The health industry is always waiting to capitalize
on the latest trends to make a quick buck. For example, in the past few years, acai berries
were touted as the miracle ingredient for weight loss. As expected, countless brands of acai berry
supplements hit the market and millions of people bought these without even knowing the
efficacy of the product. Everyone just jumped on the bandwagon and
followed the herd. While acai berries are a powerful antioxidant,
when it comes to weight loss, nothing beats a clean diet and regular exercise. Most people who bought the acai berry supplements
saw no results because it just wasn’t meant for weight loss. Here is a list of 10 herbs and botanicals
and how you can use them as remedies. Knowledge is power. Number 1 Avocado oil
This is used to treat skin conditions and even arthritis. Consuming the avocado fruit is beneficial
to the body because it is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids which the body needs. This may help lower your bad cholesterol levels. Number 2. Butterbur
This herb is used mostly to combat migraines and prevent allergies. It is said to be an anti-inflammatory and
helps to relieve pain. Number 3. Cinnamon

by lowering one’s blood sugar levels. It also freshens your breath, protects your
heart and lowers your cancer risk. Number 4. Artichoke

lower your bad cholesterol level by increasing the liver’s production of bile. Number 5. Flaxseed
This is most often used to reduce your low-density lipoprotein levels (bad cholesterol) and it
has been proven to work. You can either buy it in powder form or as
an oil in capsule form. Number 6. Garlic
The allicin in garlic is a highly potent antioxidant and is said to reduce bad cholesterol levels
and protect your heart. If you dislike the taste of garlic, you can
get them in capsule form. Just ensure that they contain allicin which
is the active ingredient necessary to promote good health. Number 7. Ginseng
Often used in Traditional Chinese Medicine remedies, this root is said to lower blood
sugar levels and control diabetes. It protects your heart because of its antioxidant
properties, and reduces your risk of cancer. This herb is extremely versatile and is used
to treat a wide range of ailments from dizziness to asthma. Definitely an herb you should be consuming. Number 8. Gamma linolenic acid
This is an omega-6 fatty acid found in oats, blackcurrant seed oil, barley and hemp seed
oil. It is an anti-inflammatory and helps with
peripheral neuropathy. These herbs and botanicals are just 10 of
many out there. You may wish to do more research to check
on the effectiveness of other herbs like ginger, feverfew, Devil’s claw and many more. It’s all very interesting and once you have
