Hello everybody, Dr Bryan Dzvonick here. The best way to lower your inflammation is to avoid foods that are potentially causing it. I have tested thousands of patients for food sensitivity and I’m going to share with you the top five food sensitivities that come up most frequently on these test results. Enjoy. The first category is dairy and by dairy, I mean products derived from animal milk. So coconut milk, almond milk, and cashew milk wouldn’t count in this category. It’s milk that comes from cows, sheep or goat. In order to avoid all dairy you need to be very careful to read the ingredients in your processed foods. Avoid any product which contains cow’s milk, goat’s milk, sheep’s milk, heavy cream, butter, ghee, whey, casein, cheese, yogurt, kefir and ice cream. The next category of foods that often come up on food sensitivity results are grains. And in this category the most common ones are the gluten containing grains. So wheat, rye and barley come up the most often. Surprisingly though, oats which don’t contain gluten and corn come up quite often on food sensitivity test results as well. The least reactive grain is white rice. The third food category is eggs. And what is tested is the egg yolk, the yellow part and the egg white and certain individuals may only have a reaction to the egg whites while others may have a reaction to the egg yolks or Some people like me have a reaction to both. So if you are formulating your food elimination diet, I would advise you to completely avoid eggs. The yellow and the white. The fourth category is beans or legumes and this is a broad category and people with sensitivities to this category don’t necessarily react to every type of bean that’s in this category. The top three in this category that you should avoid when starting an elimination diet is the most reactive ones. The ones I see most often on food sensitivity results and those are peanuts, soybeans, and green peas. It’s a good idea to always pressure cook your beans because that degrades some of the irritating components in there that typically cause inflammation in individuals. The final category that comes up frequently on food sensitivity results is yeast and this includes brewers yeast and baker’s yeast. Brewers yeast is used to make alcoholic beverages, while baker’s yeast is used to bake breads and pastries… things that rise. If you do have a food sensitivity to yeast I advise you to be very cautious in purchasing processed foods because many processed foods contain yeast so be very careful and read all of the ingredients so that you’re not having anything that has yeast in it.
