Taking Charge of Your Health

– [Caroline] We all know celebrities love going to spas to get red carpet-ready and today I’m going to treat myself like a celebrity. I’m here at Hugh Spa in Los Angeles. The spa has tons of amenities, but I’m going to try three
of their most detoxifying treatments and pick my
favorite at the end. The treatments I’m going to try today are the body scrub, the Shiatsu massage, and the Gorgeous Gold Body Wrap. So, let’s go! – [Catherine] Hugh Spa
is more of a traditional Korean bath house, also
known as jimjilbang. We wanted to keep that jimjilbang aspect but also have more of
a boutique day spa feel so that women can come in and sweat it out get all the toxins out but also have more of a relaxing experience. – [Caroline] For this treatment, the spa therapist uses a mitt to exfoliate my body and get my skin silky smooth. Before we get to scrubbing, I am going to soak in the hot tub for about 10, 15 minutes while I open up my pores. This is cool. This is
different from other scrubs that I’ve had because they’re not using any gels or salt or sugar-based scrubs, they’re just using a mitt and warm water, and that feels like it’s a little more effective that way. – [Catherine] The benefit of the scrub is to get all that exfoliation
and just kind of renew your skin a little bit, give you that natural glow. – [Caroline] During this
treatment, the massage therapist uses her hands, elbows, knees, and even her feet on pressure points all over my body. So this is really exciting, I’m looking forward to this one. So, let’s try it out! Oh, my gosh! It feels so good. When you go to other spas,
the massage therapists are usually very timid
when it comes to really digging into your skin
and getting those knots. But not here. This is so relaxing. – [Catherine] So the Shiatsu is like our acupressure, so you’re getting all the pressure points, getting
all the knots out, it’s a lot of stretching to promote blood circulation. – [Caroline] This treatment
comes with a scrub and a massage, and since I’ve already done that before, I’m going to go in for their Gorgeous Gold
Body Wrap and facial. – [Catherine] We actually
mix our gold detox gel with a ginger powder, which contain about 40 antioxidant properties which actually helps prevent free radical damage and prevents aging and everything. It also helps even out skin tone and skin elasticity. – [Caroline] I’ve never had my feet individually wrapped before. I’ve tried body wraps in the past, but sometimes the scrubs and gels used can tingle on my skin a bit, or I’ll feel a bit claustrophobic wrapped so tight in the blanket. The solar blanket used here is nice because it really helps lock in the heat without feeling too heavy on your body. All of the treatments were incredible, I feel like this was a spa day for my body and my mind. I just feel so at ease and relaxed. But I have to pick my favorite and it’s going to be the Shiatsu massage. I’ve never had a shiatsu massage before, and I had no idea the therapist was going to go in with her hands and arms and elbows and even her
feet to massage my back. She did not leave one knot behind, and I just feel so calm right now, like this is really good. So that has to be my favorite. Of course they were all so fun, and I would come back and do all of them all over again but, yeah,
the Shiatsu massage, can’t beat that.

  1. I love the body scrub and get it every time I go to Jeju spa in Atlanta along with a hip bath…pure paradise ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  2. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Does anyone know great/creative spas in London and in the UK?

Would be great if you did a video for spas in London ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  3. Body scrub for $40? At the spa I work at $70 you soak for 30 mins and get a full body exfoliation. Other packages come with a deep tissue massage, scalp massage, and cucumber facial

  4. I have Lyme disease and do these on a weekly basis (along with tons of other things for detoxing) because for chronic pain detoxing is essential and I can definitely say they work!!!

  5. The spa and procedures look nice…but there is tooo much talk…bla, bla, bla…you can't even relax. You dont have to talk…you could write the details on the screen.

  6. This is all nonsense. It is enjoyable to be pampered. That's it. These people aren't therapists and nothing they do is going to remove imaginary toxins or make you age any better.

  7. Lol the scrubbing is no near korean its North African Algeria and morocco and Tunisie its called kassa ..its our thing from ages ..dont steal peopleโ€™s cultures and traditions or at least refer to the origin..this is called stealing

  8. The main purpose of these treatments serve to relax mind and body and improve the skin, but as for detoxing there's no scientific basis. Your liver, kidneys and lungs already do the job!

  9. Did she Seriously spend $40 on getting her body scrubbed? I do that at home without losing a penny.

  10. hehehehhehe in tunisia and in all north africa you could get your whole body scrubbed raw for only maximum 5 dollars and it is an old traditional Turkish treatment that turkish ppl do in their traditional hammam

  11. Guys for saying itโ€™s expensive,
Well itโ€™s a whole new different country so obviously the price wonโ€™t be the same and in Korea all spa and beauty treatments are super expensive.

  12. Imagine this: You are being paid for getting massages ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ How awesome is that?๐Ÿ˜Š

  14. There are thousands of public (women and men in different rooms) scrub showers (hamam) in Turkey. It's only 5 lira per person (40p). You first bath with hot water and stay in the steam for half an hour and then go into a private room and someone scrubs your back for you. But someone with asthma may not live there for long, even I can't breath properly from the steam..

  15. Hhhhhhhhhhhhh,๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

  17. Look at Koreans doing Gods work since they heard that Caucasians donโ€™t wash properly but simply let their shampoo โ€œcleanโ€ their body while standing!!
