Taking Charge of Your Health

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and
this is a therapy where we collect some blood from a patient separate out the
layers of the blood in the centrifuge and collects the portion of the plasma
or the liquid part of the blood separate out the red and white blood cells and
you take the plasma and the platelets and then you can use that as material to
inject into an area where there has been tissue damage. The reason why we take the
platelets is that platelets contain growth factors and other cytokines that
are responsible for tissue repair and healing so it’s kind of a way of
taking the body’s own signaling and mechanisms for healing out
of the blood concentrating it and directing it exactly where you want it
to go
