Taking Charge of Your Health

Hi I’m Dr. Laura Belus, Naturopathic
doctor. And here today with Well.ca to share my must-haves in my natural
medicine cabinet. So let’s get started! First and foremost, I need to have some
immune support on hand. And I always have two products: #1 for overall prevention
and #2 when those symptoms just start to hit, and you need some remedy fast. First
and foremost, my everyday remedy is going to be my Vitamin C powder. This one from
Innate Response contains 1,000 milligrams in a single scoop, plus
bioflavonoids which help vitamin C work even better. Second product is my go-to
when I start to get those first signs and symptoms of infection. Cold & flu
symptoms that come on very, very quickly – I reach for my Deep Immune by St.
Francis, this is probably one of my secret weapons for over ten years.
And I use a full daily dose the first signs of infection, and that nips it
right in the bud. So I encourage everyone to pick up a bottle and get some in
their medicine cabinet. Now that the immune system is taken care of,
let’s focus on everyday health. I’m an absolute believer and a lover of B-
complex vitamins. Specifically an Activated B Complex such as this one
from Pure Encapsulations. This helps with mood, energy, and hormone balance. If I’m
extra stressed, I’ll take a single dose at breakfast, and a single dose at lunch.
Then we have our foundational products that I do not let go empty – my high-dose
Omega 3’s. This is a fish oil that helps with mood and skin health, because
of the additional EPA’s. Plus I have my Vitamin D3. This formula from CanPrev
has a single drop containing 1,000 international units (IU). That’s our
recommended daily dose. I combine the two and I’m out the door! Then we have every
concern that comes up every time we’re traveling or when we’re least expecting it.
And this is our sleep support. Sometimes I just don’t feel I’m ready to hit the
hay, and I can’t get a good night’s rest. So I reach for my sleep support from
Orange Naturals it contains melatonin, GABA, as well as
magnesium to help me get to sleep and stay asleep the entire
night. Then we have our first aid, so we want to make sure that we’re taking care
of any of the scrapes, cuts, and bruises when they come up, as naturally as
possible. Boiron has a wonderful product called Arnicare tablets, and these are
great at helping you naturally speed your body’s healing response. Especially
if I get a burn in the kitchen this is the first thing I reach for, and it’s
safe for the whole family. Second to that I always keep a little bottle of Tea
Tree Oil, 100% pure tree oil can be used for cuts and bruises,
scrapes, even as a spot treatment for blemishes. So 100% pure
formula is what you want to look out for. Then we have our oral health. So as a
Naturopath, I absolutely am a firm believer in our oral health affecting
our overall physical health. I always have my bathroom stocked with a dental
floss. This one from Eco-Dent has enzymes as well as tea tree oil built into the
actual floss. So my mouth feels amazing after flossing every day. And then I have
my fluoride-free, SLS-free toothpaste. What that means is natural, vegan
ingredients. Not a lot of that foaming action from synthetic ingredients, so my
mouth feels and stays clean. This one from Green Beaver is absolutely
fantastic, it’s Cilantro Mint, so give it a try if
you’re brave enough! Anyways those are my must-haves for my natural medicine
cabinet I’m Dr. Laura Belus and we will see you soon.

  1. Hi, I'd love to see more product introductions from Dr Laura. I've incorporated quite a lot of things she has been suggesting in her videos here at Well.ca into my daily health maintenance. If she does another video, PLEASE make sure that products that she recommends are FULLY stocked. I find that as soon as her videos are released, pretty much all of the things that she suggests are quickly sold out. Thanks.

  2. hi, is there any place i can buy all of these products ? pleasa introduce some place in Richmond Hill, Markham, Thornhill……Mississauga ! thanks
